finding meaning

14th March 2007
finally, something meaningful that i could do in hall. it's the march school holidays so we brought the kids out for telematch and mass games today. real solid fun. it's part of the TH Hearts Committee effort and we've been going down to Ananias Student Care every wed to provide tuition.

Edwin's a special boy. He never had the privilege of attending kindergarten and comes from a single-parent family. when i first taught him last year, he couldn't read, didn't know his basic phonics, used his fingers and toes to do addition and was basically struggling with the primary one syllabus. despite this, i feel that he's still happy about his life and from the photos, you can catch the innocence from his smile. He lives simply- yet happily. Perhaps he is often in his own world, and sometimes, teaching him can be tough because he has a short attention span. But, i find myself doing something productive and that no matter how difficult it is to get him back on track with the primary school syllabus, i think it will be all worth it. He brings so m.u.c.h joy to the people around him. adorable's the word.

we were supposed to re-unite the musketeers of 04A51. however, it ended up with only me and del, so i'm quite happy that i made the choice to go anyway. EthelAngHuiLei-you better not pangseh us next time. We had loads of fun, going to some restaurant in eastpoint to eat some korean food, before proceeding to del's house to watch blood diamond with andrew & co.

we talked alot. really alot. and it's so nice to know that you still have friends out there who have big dreams and are motivated to work towards their dreams. some people in school are just drifting around, not knowing what they want in life. i always wonder how you can make anything out of a goaless life? Perhaps we're perfectionists, but i think its nice to work for something, and especially if that something is big. Though we're really bogged down by the immense assignments we have, i hope that we'll all be able to carve a niche for ourselves in future. dear del, i hope you do become an outstanding lawyer! :P and i do wish del and gerald everlasting happiness because i do want to be invited to the wedding. haha.
