choices that determine your destiny

we watched this film called "To Live and Die in L.A" for our Film and History Lecture this week. It was a real sleazy show which had crappy plots and cheesy lines. The show was basically about the secret service in the US and about the lives of these 2 secret service agents. Somehow, despite the stupidity of the film, it led me to think about Pastor Melvyn's sermon a few weeks ago.
In the film, the two agents were supposed to get close to this "bad guy" who made counterfeit money. They were real close to getting him except, they did not have the money to make a "transaction" with the guy. They tried asking for funds from their superiors to no avail. Hence, the two "heroes" decided that they would rob another guy to get the money to make the "transaction". In the end, it turns out that they would kill another secret service agent and the story goes on. What struck me was that, these agents were supposed to be the good guys but a wrong decision made them go down the wrong path.
Sometimes in life, we make such choices as well. Despite opposition from "the top", we still want to take things into our own hands. And that's the reason why we lead oursleves down roads which have no U-Turn signs. Pastor mentioned that some choices we make are irreversible, and we will have to live through them. I personally made some wrong choices since starting uni. and now, its impossible to get out of it. It was especially painful last week since i had loads of encouragement from people who told me to "Just Do It" and don't bother about what others think. In the end, my efforts to get out were futile and i'm still stuck in the path of my wrong choices.
But i really want to thank God for His mercy. Even though Abraham made a wrong choice when they went to Egypt, God multiplied his possessions when they were asked to leave. Indeed, God is a God of second-chances and i hope that this time, i will make things right with Him. I don't know what God has planned for my life, but i do know that i need Him to be in the center of every aspect of my life.
Choices that Determine your Destiny
1. Return Back to Faith in God
2. Relinquish your Rights to God
3. Realign your Vision to the Lord
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
